How to edit entry content

Now that you have successfully logged in to the FC2 blog, here is an explanation on how to write a new entry into your blog.

1. Edit an Entry
Click on [Write a New Entry] on the top left hand side of your User Management page to create a new entry.
2008-06-04_1208.png

Then simply enter your content in the field like the image shown above.

If you think your entry is too long, you can write a brief paragraph on your main section then enter rest of your content in an extended section. (*The extended section will display on your blog as a [Read more...] link. When a user visits your blog, the user will click on the [Read more...] link to continue reading the rest of the entry.)

2. Edit an extended section
The extended section uses the same edit method as the main section; you can upload images and insert icons. The only difference for the extended section is that it will display as a [Read more...] link on your blog. A visitor can then click on the link which will open the extended section. Using the extended section can break a long entry into two parts. (What's displayed may look different according to your template) To use the extended section just click on [Edit Extend].

3. Preview the Entry
You can sneak peek your entry at any time by clicking the [Preview] button. (*When you are previewing your entry it will show all the content in the entry including content that is in your extend section)
By previewing the entry, you can see what the entry looks like in your blog. You can revise the entry any time you want to as well.
*Note: Your preview text color may be different depending on the template you are using.

4. Entry Settings
After you have finished writing and previewing your entry, you can click on [Save] to post the entry on your blog. If you haven't finished writing your entry and don't want to post it yet, you can adjust your settings as shown below:
Click on [Entry Settings] to open the settings page.

Adjust the time and date you would like to publish your entry, or you could click on [Draft] and save your entry(drafts will not show up on your blog until you set it to Public). You can always work on the entry later, then publish it once it's ready. If you don't want your entry to show up on the FC2 portal page un-check the [FC2 Listing] section on the very bottom of the Entry Settings area

5. Save the Entry
After you modify your settings, click on [Save] to save and publish the entry. We recommend that you save a copy of your entry on your computer before you click [Save]. This way if an error occurs that causes you to lose your data, you will have a backup to republish the entry again.

Once you have saved the entry successfully, the page below will be displayed:

What is user tag?

FC2 users tag referrers to a blog entry in a keyword or phrase, but this also marks the entry.
These tags can find your content with the same or similar blog tags. You can also use the search engine by typing keywords, and searching for specific contents of the blog entry.

When to use user tag?

Well, let's say you are writing an entry about dieting, and you wish to share your diary with other users who might be doing a dieting diary as well. You can either find the similar blog from the FC2 Blog homepage under the "health" or "diet" tag, or you can tag your entry to let other users see your entry.
In addition, with the constant increase of the entries, the newer entries will be placed at the top, so new visitors usually only see the newer entries and neglect the older entries. Some only read an entry that they like, and have a hard time finding similar entries after reading it. Therefore, it is very helpful to use the tag function to let visitors find your awesome entries that you have posted before, or use it to search related entries. Tags can also be used to filter a specific user's favorite new entry that they want to read.

How to add tags?
1. Go to "Write A New Entry" from the menu list.
2. Enter a title (It doesn't have to relate to the tag. You can title it anything you like.)
3. Write your entry
4. Type in keywords or phrases that are related to your entry in the "User Tag"field.

tag.png

*As the image illustrated, please use a space between each tag word if you are using two or more tags.
*If you check the box (shown in the image), it will create a link for each of your tag. You can click on those links to see other related entries.

5. Click on "Preview" to check if your tags change to links, then, save your entry.
